The Docomomo Manifesto on Education Tokyo – Valencia (more information):

EDUCATION FOR MODERN MOVEMENT HERITAGE SHOULD AIM TO:

  • Document, conserve and re-use heritage that embodies the principles of the Modern Movement.
  • Document effective educational projects on conservation and maintain open access.
  • Provide comprehensive knowledge of all the processes connected with conservation.
  • To recognize and interpret the Modern Movement heritage in all its complexity.
  • Understand and practice preventive conservation.
  • Promote cultural sustainability alongside environmental and economic sustainability.
  • Bring interdisciplinarity and diversity into heritage conservation.
  • Encourage the participation of heritage communities and the public.

In this spirit, MoMo-EWI seeks to highlight modern heritage as a central theme in teaching at the university level. The worldwide initiative will share different activities related to teaching and learning, presenting the results of undergraduate, master’s or doctoral courses.

Each educative activity must face almost one of these different ways:

  • Register modern heritage that could be present with its social, historical and architectural values.
  • Registering good practices on modern heritage, presenting the values of the intervention
  • Designing interventions on modern buildings, sites and neighbourhoods.
  • Adaptive re-use intervention designs
  • Sustainable devices designed to intervene in modern heritage.
  • Experiences with the community and the public

Therefore, MoMo-EWI proposed to:

  • Hold a course in a university school in 2024.
  • Register your activity by filling in the form below
  • Submit an abstract of the course programme for publication on the conference website.
  • Submit results for publication on the web.
